Deploying used to be the part of building I dreaded. With Vercel it's a non-event — I push to GitHub and it's just… live, with a preview URL for every branch so I can check things on my phone before merging. As a solo dev that "git push and forget" workflow saves me real hours every week.

What needs improvement

Pricing gets a little nerve-wracking once you're past hobby — it's hard to predict what a traffic spike will cost, and I'd love clearer guardrails/alerts. Cold starts on serverless functions can also bite occasionally. Still my default for anything front-end.

vs Alternatives

What I'd considered before: rolling my own on a VPS (too much babysitting) and Netlify (genuinely close, I just landed on Vercel for the Next.js integration and the preview deploys).

Vercel has been my go-to platform for shipping MVPs quickly.

The deployment process is incredibly fast and smooth, especially when working with modern frameworks like Next.js. It removes a lot of the infrastructure overhead, allowing me to focus on building and validating ideas instead of dealing with DevOps.

Preview environments and automatic deployments are a huge plus, they make iteration and testing much easier.

Tried v0 out of curiosity as coding is not my domain & also experiments with deployment always failed. I found v0 good in this aspect but the ai executes a lot of unwanted/unasked stuff also ( some happy discoveries and some flaws so need to roll back a lot ) Building something thats MVP level and making decent progress. But with the new pricing change - this might be affected. Imagine 100+ updates to get to a decent level even with clear requirements!! We'd be paying for the mistakes made by v0..any thoughts on how to mitigate this.

alright, ngl but Vercel was made for the speed of it. deployment and staging, especially the vercel bot that do all of the check before git publish is what I like.

with the recent launch of Vercel drop, I thought it's a major competitor to uselink but turn out it nost, as what vercel drop does is just host the html file, while uselink do all of the collaboration stuffs include password protect, expiry date and set who can view content. so I can consider it's good to just host HTML file
