Hi everyone — I'm Nicholas Gehle, Psy.D., a licensed clinical psychologist.
**Sixty seconds on why I built Strua:
I had the idea for Strua in my kitchen while talking with a family member who just couldn't remember what they did in therapy.
For fifteen years, I had seen this same pattern:
A client does incredible work in session — real breakthroughs.
Then life hits between appointments… and everything becomes unreachable.
Not because they were not trying.
Because stress does not care about insight.
I started calling it crisis amnesia.
When your nervous system floods, your prefrontal cortex goes partially offline. The skills are still there — you just cannot access them under pressure.
Most mental health apps respond with meditation.
Meditation is valuable — I recommend it often.
But it is not designed for:
- a panic attack at 2 AM
- intrusive thoughts that will not stop
- anger escalating faster than you can think
So I built what I wished I could give every client leaving my office:
