I'm excited to share a tool I built to solve a problem that drove me crazy in my classes: the awkward "dead air" while scrambling to find the right audio file, song, or sound effect. The Inspiration: I was tired of fumbling through YouTube tabs or disorganized folders. I needed one central, instantly accessible place to trigger sounds while walking around the room. The Solution: This customizable web-based Soundboard. I designed it to be flexible, allowing users to: • Upload their own sounds. • Search a huge, free royalty-free library. • Generate specific sound effects using AI (a paid feature - $5/mo for all of the premium features on the website). Evolving the Process: The initial version was very basic, but I realized teachers and presenters needed more control. I added features like per-button volume control, audio trimming, different types of triggering (one shot, loop, layering, tap to play/pause), one button to stop all sounds, customizable grid size, easy switching between boards, and the ability to use large emojis as button names to quickly find the right button to press. The core tool is completely free (just sign-up to save your boards). I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback! What ways could you see yourself using this? What other features do you think I should add to it?

@ron_ward curious, could layering open up creative uses for musicians too?

Ron Ward
@masump It could, perhaps! But this is a web based tool, so even though the sound plays pretty much immediately, it would probably not be a good choice for creating drum beats with single shot hits, as there is still a very slight latency.
