This certainly isn't the Winamp I remember...! Can you resurrect a punk rock brand in the modern streaming music era? Will enough people remember what the brand meant before and come back? If not — will a new generation encounter the brand as a fresh new take on the music experience? So far the experience lacks much... but maybe as a two-sided marketplace for less well known acts, it might find its footing yet?
Launching on PH In 2023 w/o AI feature 😅
First response i read and it’s 100%.
I hate to be negative but this FTUX needs some work if I'm honest. I'm prompted to login, for what?
Exactly, I have no idea what this is, apart from using Winamp many, many years ago, so am curious, just seems to be a web interface for something, no information, click around and have to sign up to get the 'full experience', what full experience?
It Really Whips the Llama's Ass 🥶
I'm super confused by the product positioning and value prop here. Just like a team tried to resurrect the brand as a new NFT-oriented music streamer, it seems like they're betting on nostalgia for the brand to attract talent rather than product. While I appreciate the inclusion of the llama soundicons, nothing about this experience captures what made the OG Winamp great (especially all the sweet custom themes!).
Having previously worked at Tidal, my understanding is that it's mostly about having access to the music rights, that's ~90% of the value in the company. Less about the product offering. Could be that Winamp is a play to bundle/partner with other platforms and this incarnation of it is just the beginning.
I recently tried this music player and it would be interesting to know more about how the Fanzone feature works and what benefits it can bring, especially to artists who want to share their work on the platform.
good ol' memories
DJ Mike Llama is back!
Congratulations on the launch🎉..
This looks awesome, maybe adding g-sign in will reduce friction for those on the fence to try it out.
Congrats! This design looks great!
