Whiffly - Trade in preloved perfumes and sample any scent for 30 days

We run a boutique fragrance house and wanted to solve the problem of preloved fragrances going to waste and started speaking with fragrance-wearers. We also know that many younger audiences struggle with the high cost of buying a new fragrance. Desk research showed us that the second-hand marketplace for the perfume (i.e. Facebook marketplace) did not offer consumers a big enough incentive to buy preloved. People also told us that they found used perfume to have lost some of its glamour, and some even found it unhygienic. However, as we talked with people, we started to see a shift in the perception of used perfume when discussing the challenge of sampling. Respondents became excited by the idea of donating their old scents to a community and getting scents from others to sample before committing to a brand-new bottle or simply for a special occasion. We are currently running beta-tests and think there is a viable opportunity to innovate this space. We are looking at a future model that incorporates fragrance manufacturers and creates a platform, marketing-vehicle, and sales pipeline for perfume creators, brands, and influencers.
