Where is that fine line between prompting and reading the code yourself?

I made a booking page for a friend's yoga studio with Lovable. The first iteration took me an afternoon to complete, and I felt like a genius. But on day four, every little tweak had two new problems, and my prompts were getting longer and more desperate.

This was my cue. I stopped prompting, opened up the files, found a bug from double bookings caused by a timezone assumption hidden in one component, and fixed it with one line of code.

The strange thing is that I felt so resistant before diving into the code. Diving into the code was like admitting failure, but in reality, it was the fastest way out. From then on, I have a rough heuristic: if the same problem survives three prompts, I read the code myself.

What is your cue? Is it time, frustration, or something else? And is there anyone who has come up with a cleaner solution than me?
