After speaking to international students at University studying in the UK&US, who have English as a second language. Almost all of them say the same thing: They passed the English requirement — but that didn’t prepare them for: 1. fast, accent-heavy lectures 2. Course-specific terminology 3. Speaking up in seminars/tutorials 4. Writing essays in the style universities actually expect Some told me they struggled with “general English”. But they ALL said they struggled with academic English in real university situations. What surprised me most is that many students feel this gap silently — they don’t want to ask for help, and traditional language apps don’t really fit what they’re dealing with. This led us to build a solution.
