Why I chose to remove features instead of adding them?

Most writing tools compete by adding more - stats, formatting, goals, streaks, word counts, background colors, AI helpers, and so much more.

I went the opposite direction and built featureless as a single writing surface with almost nothing around it.

Why this works:

It invites reflection, not judgment. People love talking about their own friction.

I’m curious - when you sit down to write, what’s the first thing that distracts you? Is it tools, expectations, or something else entirely?
