Why do "Language Apps" fail us after the beginner stage? 🧩
The "Language App" industry has a massive problem: it's stuck in 2012.
Most of us are stuck in a loop. We use a "Game" app (Duolingo) for the streak, a "Textbook" app (Babbel) for the rules, and a "Flashcard" app (Anki) for the memory. Then, when we try to actually speak, we realize we’ve only learned how to recognize words, not recall them.
I’ve spent the last 2 years as a solo developer building LengoBrick because I was tired of "App Fatigue." I wanted one sleek, modern system that actually follows the science of acquisition (N+1 and Active Recall) without feeling like a digital chore.
Here is what I’m changing:
Lingoworld (2D Immersion): Instead of just translating "The boy eats an apple," you walk through a 2D open world. You find the bakery, talk to the NPC, and apply your lesson in a simulated environment before you ever step foot in a new country.
Deep Autofeedback: Most apps give you a green or red screen. LengoBrick gives you a "Why." Every drill, pronunciation, and writing exercise provides instant, contextual grammar and error feedback so you aren't left guessing.
Integrated Immersion: We’ve bridged the gap between "Learning" and "Consuming." Your lessons are directly tied to an immersion library of videos and stories. No more hunting for content; the system knows exactly what vocabulary you've unlocked and gives you content at your N+1 level.
Active Recall Drills: We moved away from simple matching. Our system forces your brain to produce the language, turning passive recognition into active fluency.
The Roadmap: I’m currently preparing for a crowdfunding campaign to take this from a web-app to a full native mobile experience. In parallel, I am looking for 10-20 serious learners to join the private beta. I need people who have hit that "Intermediate Plateau" and want to help me stress-test a unified system.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the current "Language Stack." Are you using 3+ apps just to stay afloat? What is the one feature you feel is missing from your daily routine?
