Hi all! I'm Melanie, founder of Verve, a video-only dating app launching exclusively in DC to start.

Some of my friends are in the divorce season of life, and this idea was born out of so much frustration with endless texting and traditional dating apps' inability to give you a true sense of a person.

The idea is to get to the important part quicker. Users record video profiles and have the option to live chat, schedule a video meeting, or go straight to in-person with matches. The vibe is about being cheeky, authentic, and a little ballsy.

It's not for everyone! The friction/barrier to entry is part of the point. We want to appeal to people who show up confidently in person and have stopped giving so many fucks.
