Is "cutting-edge" security leaving the average user behind?

We have incredible security technology today—passkeys, MFA, and hardware tokens.
The "tech" side of the equation seems solved.
But for the average non-tech person (like my parents or friends outside the industry), these tools often feel like insurmountable friction. It feels like the stronger the security gets, the worse the UX becomes.
Two questions for the community:
Do you agree that the "Security vs. Usability" problem is still largely unsolved for the mass market?
Why do you think we still struggle to make high-entropy security intuitive? Is it a design failure, or just the nature of the beast?
