CloudVista – open dashboard for multi-cloud inventory, security, and cost (supports VMware too)
by•
I've been running CloudVista for a few months now and wanted to share it here.
The core idea: most cloud management tools are either cost-focused (CloudHealth, Apptio) or security-focused (Wiz, Orca) and none of them handle on-prem vSphere. We built something that covers all three — inventory, security posture, and cost — including VMware vSphere alongside the public clouds.
**What it does:**
- Syncs full inventory from OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP, and VMware vSphere
- Runs security analysis: open ports, exposed resources, CIS/SOC2/PCI-DSS compliance
- Pulls actual cost data from each provider's billing API, breaks out network egress charges, and projects 12-month spend by category
- Topology maps showing how resources relate across providers
- Role-based access so you can give security analysts read-only access to findings without seeing credentials
**Technical notes for HN:**
- Backend: FastAPI + SQLAlchemy + Celery for async sync jobs
- Frontend: React + Recharts
- VMware integration uses the vSphere API directly (read-only service account, no agent)
- Self-hostable via docker-compose
Free tier is 100 assets / 1 cloud account. There's a live demo if you want to poke around without connecting real credentials.
What's the biggest gap you see in multi-cloud visibility tooling? Curious what we're missing.
