The Code Book - Learn programming interactively and escape tutorial hell.

by
The Code Book is an interactive platform built to help people escape video "tutorial hell" and learn programming properly. It features a hands-on, gamified curriculum covering 7 levels from zero to pro. It includes bite-sized coding challenges, XP/streak tracking, built-in SRS flashcards, and focus timers to keep you locked in. It's 100% free, works on mobile/desktop, and requires no install. Looking for honest feedback from the community on what breaks or feels good!

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Otis, the creator of The Code Book. I built this platform because I got incredibly tired of seeing passionate people get stuck in "tutorial hell"—that loop where you endlessly watch programming videos but never actually learn how to build anything on your own. I wanted to make something heavily gamified and hands-on to make learning to code genuinely engaging. The Code Book is a web app structured across 7 "floors" that take you from absolute zero to developer-level concepts. Here is what I built into it: • Interactive lessons paired with immediate coding challenges • XP rewards and daily streak tracking to keep you consistent • Built-in Spaced Repetition (SRS) flashcards for long-term retention • Voice narration and focus timers to help you lock in and study It is 100% free, fully responsive on both mobile and desktop, and requires absolutely no installation. You can even jump in as a guest to try it out without creating an account. I'm looking for about 20 testers from this amazing community to jump in, try the lessons, and absolutely break things! What breaks? What's confusing? What feels great? Drop your thoughts below—I'll be right here in the comments to chat and answer questions!
