Speaking ChatBots by Tars - Make a chatbot which can speak out loud

by

Speaking ChatBots is Voice Enabled ChatBots that you can make using a simple Drag and Drop Tool. It uses the SpeechSynthesis capability of HTML5 compliant browsers to automatically generate Speech.

The biggest advantage of a Speaking ChatBot is that your user can navigate through your ChatBot more easily as they have to focus less on reading.

I like it but I wonder if you could take it a step further and allow users to record their own voice. This would also speed up the creation of bots - especially if it could do speech recognition and populate the text field too.

@doivoid Interesting Idea. Maybe we will be able to explore this in the future. Thanks for the Upvote :)

Hello everyone! We launched our chatbot builder "Tars" (https://www.producthunt.com/post...) here on ProductHunt ~8 months back. Since then we have made good progress both in terms of product features and Bot Makers on the Platform. Today, we are launching a new experimental capability which can be a game changer. We are giving our ChatBots Voice Capability, our Bots can speak now! We believe this would make the bots much more conversational, engaging and cool. Voice based assistants seem to be everywhere, but this is the first time when you can make your own Speaking ChatBot and run it on a Browser. The primary motivation for this feature is to pass the "Drunk User Test", and it makes the ChatBot navigation so much more easier. You can check out a speaking bot here - https://bitcoin.hellotars.com/co... And it works for multiple languages, check this bot in Hindi Language - http://chattoak.com/hindi/?_spea... We would love to know what you think about it :)

Wow @jindalish! This is awesome and I am super excited with this. :) :) :) I am a hellotars user and this is a great addition to this family. One thing, Can't we have an option to mute the sound if after a while I wanted to mute the bot? Or in other words, suppose I created a bot which is equally good even without the voice. Can I give this facility to users as whether they want to hear voice or simply want to interact with bot? Also, when are you guys coming up with 'newsletter' type features in the Facebook messenger chatbot? I mean, this is the right time to have a fully functional messenger chatbots like what we can create with Manychat, Chatfuel, botletter etc. Anything you wanna say on this? Thank you.

@niteshmanav Hey Nitesh! glad you like this new capability. You are right - we could have an option to mute the sound since the user might want to do that midway during the chat. Currently, if you open the bot in iOS devices - the bot asks for user's permission if they want to allow the sound or not. We can probably extend the same to other devices as well. For FB messenger integration, we are working on the broadcast features. So you should see that soon :)

Great feature

Pros:

I always love what Ish does

Cons:

The voice is roboty which kinda adds to its appeal
