One pet journal. Up to 6 people. Free. Family Sharing is HERE!

byβ€’

Hey hunters! πŸ‘‹

I built so pet parents can track their dog or cat's whole life - health, walks, meals, milestones. But a few PH community folks told me: more than one person cares for the pet, so why does only one phone hold the journal? They were right!

Today we're fixing that with Family Sharing:

β€’ Free on every plan. Sharing never costs extra. Invite with a private, single-use link you share however you chat.

β€’ Everyone logs to one shared timeline, each entry tagged with who added it

β€’ If the pet's owner is Pro, everyone sharing that pet gets its AI features too

Also new in 1.2.2: a friendly Family Welcome Hub for new members, a smoother in-form date picker, full-screen event photos you can swipe through, and snapping photos straight from the camera.

This one's personal. I'd love to hear how your family uses it, especially anyone co-raising a pet across two homes.

What would make it feel even more like home?

This could really help people co managing pets across homes.

No more guessing if the dog was already walked or fed.

Β I hope so! I know I use it to keep track of what/when we do with our two pups

I've been waiting for something like this . Family Sharing makes so much sense because caring for a pet is usually a team effort. Can multiple people add entries at the same time?

Β I'm impressed by the Family Sharing feature. I've struggled to keep everyone informed about vet visits, medications, and daily updates.

Β I really like the direction you're taking. I've found that pet care works best when everyone has access to the same information. This could help avoid missed appointments and forgotten tasks.

Β Curious about how the sharing works. I've got family members in different locations who help care for my pet occasionally. Would everyone be able to receive updates and notifications automatically?

Β thank you for the question! the short answer is YES, multiple family-sharing users can add timeline entries concurrently without friction. one small caveat though, currently live updates are not released, meaning when a co-parent adds an entry, it won't appear on your screen until you do a pull-to-refresh, or on the next access. this is an active issue and will probably be addressed in the next release. so the user-noticeable friction isn't about writing, it's about seeing (for now). thank you so much for your question and support!

family sharing makes total sense... more than one person always helps take care of the pet but usually only one phone has the data. having everyone log to the same timeline is the obvious next step. the "if the owner is Pro, everyone gets AI features" is a generous touch too

Β very much agreed, thank you for the appreciation!

This is a massive game-changer, Sorin! 🐾 You are spot onβ€”pet care is almost always a team effort, whether it's family members, roommates, or co-raising across households. Having a shared timeline where entries are tagged by who added them makes so much sense to avoid the classic 'Did anyone feed the dog?' text. To answer your question: having a little 'shared message board' or a sticky daily note at the top of the Family Welcome Hub would definitely make it feel even more like home. Congrats on the Family Sharing launch!

Β thanks you for the support and for the actionable insights! will definitely take them into account!

pet care is almost always a team effort at home, so keeping the journal stuck on just one phone was a real bottleneck. To answer your question on making it feel more like home: maybe adding a feature where family members can leave short 'voice notes' or quick reactions on specific timeline entries would add a lovely personal touch. Love where Tamadoggo is heading!

Β hmm, that's actually a very interesting idea. thank you for sharing it !

Love the decision to make sharing free. Pet care is rarely a one person job, and this feels like a feature that should exist by default. The shared timeline sounds especially for busy families.

Β sharing is carrying, hah! thank you!

The AI access extending to everyone on the shared pet is smart touch. It creates a better group experience instead of making non Pro members feel like second class users.

Β Exactly. The easier it is to use, the better the overall experience, and hopefully the more willing people are to consistently log moments and updates together.

"Congratulations on the launch! The Family Sharing feature looks great. I'm curiousβ€”how does the sync work if two people try to update the same pet's meal entry at the exact same time? Is there a conflict resolution mechanism in place?"

Β good question! at the current user base this is something with a very low likelihood of happening, but it is also not handled in a robust way. essentially it's a silent last-write-wins, with no warning to either user. meaning whoever finishes editing last will overwrite. admittedly this isn't the best UX, and it should be handled better, but thank you for raising the question because I created an Issue of this with the intention of patching it if the user base increases. thank you for the insightful question!

I have always been the last one in my family to know what Ivy is doing, I see hope now.

What were the main challenges with building the family sharing feature?
