disclosure first I work on a tool in this space, so weigh it accordingly. not linking it, this isn't that post.
I went in assuming the failure mode would be detail. it isn't. wear survives better than I thought scuffs, paint marks, a dent all came through on the things I tested. what a single photo genuinely cannot give you is the parts of the object it never saw. the back is inferred, not captured, and on anything with a genuinely different back it shows.
honest read after a lot of tests:
works for a spinning hero shot, social video, a floating cutout on a slide or a plain background
works when the object is roughly symmetrical, or you only ever show the front
doesn't work as a substitute for a real turntable rig when the buyer will inspect the back
doesn't work if you need something dimensionally accurate rather than something that looks right
Ran the same comment through four threads over a month and only one kept generating views weeks later. The difference was not the reply count in the first hour, all four got at least one. It was whether a third person with no connection to me or the OP joined within the first two or three days without being asked.
If it stays just me and the OP going back and forth, that is engagement, not compounding. The one thread that kept going had someone unconnected join inside 48 hours, and that window is also roughly when the other three had already gone flat.
Curious if anyone else tracks this specifically, or if there is an earlier signal worth watching for before the third person even shows up.
The App Store shows downloads, revenue, crashes. Fine as a pulse check. Not enough if you care what people do inside the app: which paywall they hit, whether they finish a session, whether a feature even got used.
For Briskly I built a small event tracker and a private dashboard for that. It works. I m just not sure it s the smartest use of solo time, or if there s a simpler setup most people use.
