How do filmmakers keep track of actors they want to work with someday?
This is actually the problem that led me to build TalentCast.
As a director, I often meet or discover actors who aren't right for the project I'm working on today, but who I’d love to remember for something in the future.
The problem is that six months later their photo might be in a folder, their contact somewhere else, and my notes somewhere completely different.
I'm curious how other filmmakers handle this.
Do you maintain your own talent database? Use spreadsheets, Notion, casting platforms, folders — or mostly rely on memory?
This workflow is at the heart of TalentCast, so I’d genuinely love to understand how others approach it and what’s missing from the tools you use today.
If you’re curious about what I ended up building:
🎬 Website: talentcast.app
📱 TalentCast is available now on the App Store for iPhone.
I’d especially appreciate feedback from filmmakers, producers and casting professionals.
