Sprout - Organize your learning into a clear picture and a plan

by•
Sprout is where you plan the knowledge and skills you’re building. Collect resources on the topics you care about, break each topic into skills you can practice, and set a rhythm for practicing them. Everything comes together in one picture of what you’re building.

Sprout came to me in my early 20s. I was transitioning from working in finance to working in software development which required a great deal of self-directed study. Many days, I was in my room working through courses and various media on the topics I was trying to learn. The process itself was challenging, but what was also challenging was keeping track of the learning process. That is, I was having trouble figuring out where to start, what step to take next, and where everything added up. I didn't know it at the time, but what I needed wasn't a curriculum. That was only a piece. What I needed was a full picture that showed where I have been, and tools that help me plan where to go next. I have a passion for video games and grew up playing RPGs. The concept of a skill tree always felt underused outside of video games. They're a great representation of the growth of a person. Naturally, I combined this thought with other practical tools and methods. Time blocking, an "next action-focused" notepad for writing meaningful entries, and so much more. All these came together to create what I think is the perfect learning management system. I hope it helps someone!
