Skype Meetings - Click a button to start a free video call

Microsoft's Google Hangout competitor. Surprised Skype didn't launch this years ago, tbh. We're big fans of Zoom.us at PH.

I'm no videoconferencing expert, but Isn't this what Skype already did? Is it just free now? Or is it just called "Meetings" now? Oh! A new invite link system! I take it all back! Groundbreaking!

I'm in New Zealand, and I'm getting 'This service isn't available in your region yet - but we're working on it.' This is just silly. Skype is not a bootstrapping startup.

Not available in my region yet (Canada). I hope that changes soon.

I could be missing something, but it seems the only addition to the this "new product" is "Personalized URL to join from any device." Or is it that it is essentially "Skype for the web"? What am I missing?

That video seemed like a tremendously laborious way to showcase a feature: that there are now Office integrations and links that open a meeting directly. I don't want to get notified during my runs of conference calls, and I don't need to see some company fly a plane to understand what a video conference tool is. How is this even a new product? Very confused. Maybe I'm not the target market, despite using video conference calls pretty much every day.

This took wayyy too long, but better late than never. Might try it out for the next meeting, excited about the powerpoint possibilites

Skype is absorbing all of Microsoft's messaging and video tech. Soon it will do SMS as well.
