AltVision: AI SEO for Photos - Confidence-scored alt text for store images by AI vision

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Ivan, solo builder on Shopify. The problem started small: I was setting up my first Shopify app project and kept running into the same thing - product images with zero alt text, everywhere. Not just mine - I started poking around other stores and realized most catalogs are the same. It's boring, tedious work, so it just...doesn't get done. So I looked at the existing AI alt-text tools already out there. Most of them work fine - until you actually read a bunch of their output side by side with the photo. Every so often the AI just makes something up. A material that's not there. A detail that doesn't exist. And it gets published straight to the store with nobody checking. That felt like the wrong trade-off to me. Alt text exists for two real reasons - SEO and accessibility for people using screen readers - and both of those break if the description is just wrong. So the whole approach for AltVision became: the AI has to know when it's not sure. Every suggestion gets a confidence score. High confidence gets bulk-approved in one click. Anything medium or low waits for you to actually look at it before it goes anywhere near your storefront. Nothing gets published blind. It's a simple idea, but building it properly took longer than I expected - getting the confidence scoring to actually mean something (not just a random number), making sure nothing breaks on large catalogs, and making the review screen fast enough that checking 50 images doesn't feel like a chore.
