Hi PH! Today, I'm incredibly excited to announce Shareholdr! An app that lets you listen to the best startup essays, blog posts, and shareholder letters. A little background – I'm dyslexic and have always wanted to listen to PG's essays. A month ago, I was testing ElevenLabs and realized TTS had gotten really good. So, over the past month, I spent a bunch of time cleaning essays (removing things like: — _ % $ = +) to make the audio translations sound good and working with my cofounder to build an app. We currently have essays by Paul Graham, Jessica Livingston, Sam Altman, and Marc Andreessen, and will work to add more quickly. We made this for founders and it's free to use while we're in beta (also no sign-up). If you're interested, give it a try. (We'd love to hear what you think! :")
Interesting idea, congrats on your launch.
Thanks Ahmed!
Interesting idea, congrats on your launch! If it's not a secret what are you using for TTS?
We're using ElevenLabs. I tested ElevenLabs, Play HT, and OpenAI, and EL was the best.
Thank you! Can I ask why did you choose ElevenLabs instead of Play HT? I currently using PlayHT and seems working right, and would love to know why ElevenLabs is better :)
Personally I liked the audio quality on Eleven more than Play. The 5k character limit isn't great though.
Congrats team Shareholdr on the launch!
Appreciate it!
essays are very important in our everyday life
Agree. I enjoy them too.
Great work on the launch of the product!
Congrats, ?makers, and good luck on the launch! 🍀🚀
Thanks Andrei!
Very nice product!
Thanks Azeeza!
Congratulations on the launch! So great!
Thanks! Let me know if you have any improvement suggestions.
Lovely product ! Small feedback, can you try and make the AI voice a little more natural? I'm sure there are better voices, and also gender-specific to the person that I'm listening(e.g a male voice for Sam Altman) I think then this be my everyday app while running in the morning :)
Yes – we're cloning PG's voice (and possibly a few others) for the next release. I heard from a bunch of people in the last 24 hours that the wrong voice impacts the listening experience, so it's at the top of our list.
