Hello, Product Hunt Community 👋

I’m Jay, the founder of Shadow.

After years of sitting through countless meetings, I realized something—most meetings end up creating more work, not more progress. We’ve all been there: another meeting wraps up, and suddenly you’re staring at a pile of tasks, follow-ups, and vague notes.

Sound familiar? 🙄

That’s exactly why we built Shadow — to turn every meeting into actual progress, not just more ‘let me get back to you’ moments.

🚀 What is Shadow?
Shadow is your post-meeting powerhouse. While other tools might just give you a summary, Shadow bridges the gap between conversation and completion. It captures everything, generates detailed transcripts, tracks tasks, and helps you move projects forward—all without intrusive bots or cloud storage.

How Shadow Works:
Autopilot: Join or record any meeting automatically (Zoom, Google Meet, in-person—Shadow doesn’t need to be a participant).
Capture: Get searchable high-quality meeting data in seconds that are supported with thoughts that you jot down throughout the discussion.
Organize: Automatically extract action items, tasks, and insights instantly following the completion of a discussion.
Progress: Use pre-built 'Skills' or create your own to complete post meetings tasks.
Stay Secure: All meeting data is locally stored—nothing ever touches the cloud. Plus, your audio is never shared or processed.

🔥 Why Shadow Stands Out:
🧠 No Bots: Shadow doesn’t need to join your meetings—enjoy privacy and control
From Talk to Task: Turn conversations into real results
🔍 Local Storage: Keep your data private—nothing is uploaded, ever
📈 Effortless Progress: Stop recapping and start moving forward
💬 Chat with Shadow: Make reviewing a breeze with conversational AI that acts like a personal assistant

Use Cases:
From project managers and team leads to freelancers and consultants—anyone who wants their meetings to drive real results, not just more meetings.

A huge thank you to the amazing Product Hunt community—your support is always and has been incredible. Let’s make meetings matter, together 🚀

Supa Liu

This feels like the productivity upgrade meetings have always needed. Love how Shadow bridges the gap between talking and actually doing—no more wasted insights or forgotten action items.

Jay Song

@supa_l Thanks, Supa! We started building Shadow after noticing how much time people spend digging through recordings, transcripts, or even AI-generated summaries just to find what matters — it’s kind of crazy. That gap is exactly what we set out to solve, and you nailed it. Appreciate the support!

Ashley from Shadow

@supa_l Appreciate the support! Our goal is to help teams turn their to-do lists to DONE!

Finally, a tool that focuses on actual outcomes instead of just note-taking! But how customizable are the pre-built ‘Skills’? Can I tweak them for creative workflows like design sprints?

Jay Song

@desmond_ren1 Pre-built Skills are customizable — you can easily select options that suit your needs and add additional instructions. For example, in the 'Write Thank-you Email' Skill, you can choose a tone from a dropdown menu and also add a note like, “Here’s an email I sent to someone — use this tone.”

There’s also a 'Custom Skill' that lets you define anything you want Shadow to do based on a conversation — it’s fully customizable! My personal favorite is “Create a 3-line TL;DR summary in Korean” since it’s super easy to share with my team.

Ashley from Shadow

@desmond_ren1 Very customizable and in fact we've even shared some of the custom skills the team has been using https://taperlabs.notion.site/Custom-Skills-Catalog-1d2153a8ac59801da4fcd14da3880b76?pvs=4 Take a look and if you have more specific request shoot us an email

I prefer using a solution that works in local, than worrying if the company is protecting my company or not.

Thanks for good product. Congratulations!

Jay Song

@pritraveler Totally agree—keeping things local gives you control and peace of mind. We’re glad Shadow hits the mark for you. Thanks so much for the kind words and support!

Theodore Calafatidis

Nice tool! I love the interactivity it offers in comparison to other AI meeting summarization tools. Good job!!

Jay Song

@th_calafatidis Thanks, Theodore! Hope you get a chance to try it out — you’ll see Shadow is much more than just a meeting summarizer.

Samir Rashed

Looks great! Congrats on the launch

Jay Song

@samirrashed Thank you Samir!

Sangyong Jung

I’ve been using Shadow for a while now since the closed beta, and it’s been subtle and reliable in helping me remember important discussion content.

Ashley from Shadow

@sangyongjung Cheers to our earliest users! You're the reason we keep wanting to build even greater things 🥹

Jay Song

Thanks, @sangyongjung I couldn’t have come this far without your help!

Easiest upvote of my week. Shadow is hands down my favorite AI notetaking tool of 2024… and probably 2025… honestly locking in my pick for 2026 at this point.

It’s also my favorite AI tool of 2024… and probably 2025… and… you get the point.

I’ve tried them all - Granola, Krisp, Otter, Fathom, and the other weird names. Granola’s solid (I used it for a while), but once I tried Shadow, I stuck with it all year. Way more flexible, runs locally (no audio getting sent to the cloud), and the custom actions are just the cherry on top. (And yes, this has no bots)

Bonus points for the dev team. They’re super responsive on Slack. Actually listens. Even when they say “not yet”, you can tell they really considered it. Gives me confidence to stick with it in the long run.

Feels like one of those tools you quietly start using… and then can’t work without.

10/10, would recommend.

Jay Song

@andry Wow — this absolutely made our day. Seriously. Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and generous comment. It means the world to us that Shadow has earned a place in your daily workflow, especially when you’ve tried so many other tools out there.

We’ve poured a ton of care into making Shadow not just powerful, but also respectful of privacy and genuinely helpful — and hearing that it’s your favorite AI tool of 2024 (and 2025… and 2026 😄) is the kind of feedback that keeps us going.

And big thanks for the shoutout to the team too. We really do read every message and idea, and even when we say “not yet,” we mean it when we say we’re listening. Appreciate you being part of the journey — and we’re just getting started 🚀

10/10 user, would build for again 🙌

Derek Van Tonder

Love Shadow, it fills a big gap for us as we are heavy Slack users doing huddles all the time, and we want to have accurate meeting notes from those. It even records other video comms if you set it up correctly.

The Skills are also very useful, I'm looking forward to using this product a lot in future. If screen recording is added, this will be a must-have for all global workers, you'll never forget what you said in that Slack Huddle again.

Well done @jaythesong and team.

Jay Song

@derek_van_tonder_3dd Thanks so much, Derek! Super glad Shadow’s been helpful for your Huddles—and love that you’re finding Skills useful too. Screen recording’s definitely on our radar. Appreciate your continued the support!

Kay Kwak

It’s really great that Shadow doesn’t need to be present in the meeting itself.

Congrats on the launch — I’ll definitely try it out during one of my meetings. Wishing you all the best!

Jay Song

@kay_arkain thanks a lot Kay! Looking forward to hearing your feedback!
