Show PH: I built a browser extension. Now I'm questioning how much it should show users
I built MyNextBrowser, MyNextBrowser, an AI-powered browser extension that can help users complete tasks directly from the browser.
Prompt Enhancer reads page context and rewrites simple prompts into clearer instructions.Text Humanizer turns stiff AI output into natural writing.A product question came up during testing.
Should users see every tool all the time? Our first version did exactly that.Every feature stayed visible. Every action sat one click away.
Experienced users liked it. They explored the extension quickly andused more features.New users reacted differently.
Many ignored tools they did not understand. Some never discovered features that could help them.We built a second version.
The extension now reacts to the page.
A spreadsheet highlights Dynamic Dashboards.
An AI chat page highlights Prompt Enhancer.
Generated text highlights Text Humanizer.
People completed tasks faster. The interface felt simpler. But we removed part of the user's control. Some people want software that stays quiet until it sees a useful task.Others want every option visible from the start.the debate inside our team has become less about code and more about product design.
My question:
If a browser extension has several AI tools, do you want every tool visible at all times, or only the tool that fits the page you are viewing?
