I open up Photo Booth on my Mac to check the lighting, my hair, etc. before doing video interviews. This would be easier. 😬

Hi Product Hunt, just wanted to share our new little free menubar app! We always wanted a quick and easy way to see our reflection without taking the time to open clunky Photo Booth or other video apps. Pearl is a super lightweight menubar app that’ll let you see yourself in just a tap of an icon, it’s made our lives easier and we hope it makes yours easier too!

@sond813 Nice little app, seems like there is a bug when you activate auto hide feature of the menu bar

There is no shadow behind the mirror, breaks continuity with finder windows, menu popouts etc. Otherwise nice app.

It's such a nice and simple idea. Did you try also to position the window at the center of the screen in order to be as close as possible from the camera? It would give even more the impression to look at a mirror since your gaze would be straigth. I understand of course that it is more intuitive to have it appear just next to the Menu bar icon but I think an animation to move the window from the icon to the center of the screen could be nice and would also make the time to initialise the camera less jarring. Keep up with the good work!

I love love love little well-implemented single-purpose tools like this. It's the type of stuff that got me excited about software when I was young. Well done!

Finally! I've been waiting for a solution since I started doing skype calls. Goodbye photo booth!

Thanks for this--you've appeased my inner narcissist.

This is actually pretty useful! Imagine this as a online presence app where you get bubbles for everyone in your distributed team, that would be pretty cool.
