⛔ Do personal problems affect your work?

The last two days, I had some personal problems and spent basically the whole time trying to solve them.

And during that time… I did no work, no posts, no ideas, no inspiration, nothing... =D

Just me, solving my own puzzle !

It made me wonder:

Do personal problems affect your work too?

Do you have any hacks for putting your personal headaches aside somehow and still staying focused and productive?

Or do you just accept that sometimes your brain is busy with something else and let it be?

The funniest part was getting a full DM with people asking ,,where are you on Product Hunt?,,

Honestly, that made me much happier =)

Maybe disappearing for two days is also a way to find out people actually notice you! =D

I wish there was a switch for "personal problems OFF, productivity ON" 😭

 Ah, that sounds great =)
That's why I think we try to create our own switches as we grow.
For me, I find that switch in very long drives - it helps me organize my thoughts.

 Dude...

I actually add personal problems to my weekly task list on Doneas. It helps because once the week starts, I don’t have to think about everything at once, I just execute what’s on the list.

Of course, some problems can completely block you, and there’s not much you can do about it. I guess that’s just part of the process.

Do you have any hacks of your own for getting out of a blocked state?

I try to dedicate the first 2 hours of my day to solving whatever problems I have. Anything related to those problems stays in that morning window, and after that, I move on to something else.

It's great that you can manage that state! Trying to get to that point as well =)

Honestly, when life gets messy, work is usually the first thing my brain drops 😅

So how do you deal with it? Don’t you try to build some kind of mechanism to fight against that? =D

I usually make a tiny to-do list and only aim to finish one thing. Anything beyond that is a bonus.

Good =) But don’t you have days when your brain is totally blocked by something outside of work?

For me, forcing productivity during a stressful situation usually makes everything worse. I just take the day.

I started to understand this only recently.
Before, I was trying to hide all my problems and “stay productive,” but it doesn’t really work =)

yes but not for a longer time

Do you have a working method to get out of that?

I have learned to stop fighting it. Sometimes solving the personal stuff is the productive thing.

I really like your approach. For years, I always put my own problems aside just to stay productive. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that sometimes you need to stop, deal with them, and then move forward even more productively =)

The hardest part is pretending your brain is when it's clearly somewhere else.

Exactly =) That's why I found it more fair to stay alone for a couple of days.

Yep, Current problems totally sabotage my life not only in work, but unfortunately, in general.

 That's sad to hear...

I'm trying to find the keys to solving my problems. I guess the best approach is to change the approach to them =)

Problems will always exist anyway, so we should try to stay calmer.

The no ideas nothing part feels pretty real. Some days you just don't have the mental space for work. Do you think forcing productivity actually makes it worse?
