📆 Do founders get weekends, or is that a myth?

We always think we'll take Saturday off...

Then we remember:

• users don't stop using the product
• ideas don't stop coming
• launches don't wait
• neither do bugs

Curious how everyone else handles it.

Do you protect your weekends, or have you accepted that working on weekends are just part of being a maker?

What is weekends? havent got since years

Do your weekend work help you build a life where you’ll have weekends again?

Or is this the lifestyle you actually can't live without?

Honestly I dont want weekend anymore, but i want every day on my choice and i am building towards it

That’s a great mindset. Building towards the freedom to choose your days is the real goal.
Good luck on the journey!

 Thanks Adana,

For me weekend are usually for the fun parts of building not the urgent ones. That makes them feel less like work. Curious do you ever block out a full weekend or has that become unrealistic now?

I think we all naturally move the “softer” and more enjoyable parts of building into weekends, as long as there is nothing urgent waiting.

And sometimes we do give a full weekend, because building is not only about working harder.
It’s also about taking care of the energy behind it: good sleep, good food, hydration, and recovery.

Saturday is just code named "Workday with 80% fewer Slack pings."

As a founding engineer, my and company's weekend policy is simple: Saturday belongs to building, and Sunday belongs to making sure I didn't break production on Saturday. We don't protect weekends; we protect uptime!

 Code name =D

Sounds like a true founder schedule ! But are all team members on board with it, or do they still fight for their weekends? 🙃

Haha, definitely no rigid office grind! The secret is just changing the scenery. Hitting up a cozy cafe, grabbing good coffee, and setting up shop there takes all the pressure off.

I still see the founders who at least once a day have a look at working Slack. :D

True)) Seems like all makers share the same zodiac sign =D
We just can’t go a whole day without at least a tiny interaction with the product.
