But we didn't get featured.❗️

byβ€’

We launched today, got great feedback, and people seem to love what we've built.

But we didn't get featured. ❌

I'm genuinely curious:

What do you think makes the difference between products that get featured and those that don't?

Is it the product?
The launch strategy?
The audience?
The timing?
Or something else?

Would love to hear from founders who have been through this before πŸ‘‡

Somehow it's sad, but always be positive , keep connecting with users and be motivated... you motivation is more then just to get feature in one go. My best wishes are with you :)

Oh It's not so sad moment , It's just the part of game, many times we didn't get live (my team) but their is multi reasons. But you have to be motivated try again . And better luck next time πŸ‘

Β  Β Exactly .

haven't launched yet myself so take this as an outside view β€” from what i've seen lately, PH's been pushing hard on authentic engagement over launch-day volume, and featuring seems to lean on early momentum from real accounts, not just upvote count. did your traffic come mostly from your own network or cold PH browsers? feels like that split matters more than people think.

Β Ya I did that. I keep everything organic

Need to learn from your experience

Samir, I think you are seeing what many of us see...The product solves a real world problem, and our circle is excited for it, but the breadth of our 'distribution' is lacking. I have over 4,900 connections on LinkedIn, solve a Billion dollar hiring issue and can't get a single like, comment or signing on my app...my distribution channels are slim, that's why sites like this are important, but as they bush for revenue, they have no choice but to tip towards the 'paid' accounts and paid service side...so getting featured will continue to be like winning the lottery for the few who make it as most slots are reserved for those who pay the most.

Hi ,

I can't speak as a founder... but I'll speak as a current Premast customer (and someone who previously left a raving review on ProductHunt for your product).

I'm just now seeing (today, 1-2 days after your launch) that you launched on ProductHunt.

And the only reason I saw it was because of an email that came from ProductHunt via an automated "New Forum Threads for Products You've Reviewed" email. Other than this, I haven't received any emails or notifications from Premast directly since I signed up a couple of years ago.

As someone who had previously left a review, I absolutely would have contributed to your launch had I know about it in advance (and not through ProductHunt emails).

Where I've seen other products succeed with a successful launches, is in how they treat the campaign like a marketing push. They are more intentional about asking customers what they want: "We need your help. If you enjoy X product and find it valuable, please upvote, leave a review, and comment on XYZ date. If there is a specific feature you love, please share your experience and what you love about it in your review."

For example, I've seen other product founders:
1. Create a dedicated email outreach campaign 1-2 weeks before launch, with a series of emails and reminders and very specific instructions on what is being asked of them.

  1. Create dedicated landing pages specifically for the product launch with button links directly to the product launch page to leave a review at the top.

  2. Create pop-up banners or CTAs on their homepage announcing the launch (leading up to, and the day of).

  3. Social media postings in popular community groups across Facebook or LinkedIn, Slack channels, etc (or wherever you are active in communities across the web).

  4. In-app CTAs, banners, or announcements.

I'm not sure what the rules are for promotion and incentivization, but I've also seen some product launches offer a discounted monthly rate or limited time access to an exclusive feature for those who sign up/upvote/comment/review.

Your biggest opportunities are to target and reach out to your customers, like me. I'm sad I missed it.

It is quite random.

Ever since September 2024 there is max 30 products featured per day:

There is an intersting trends with specific launch days:
- April 9: a special Alpha Day for early-stage projects
- April 12: a dedicated day for Pitch Paris
- April 17: a Vercel Day with a curated lineup

On those days, more products are featured, so it could be good to target them.
