Imagine if they would “think different” and go against the richest company in the world.
Making a windows app, the billions of people they could reach and the change it would make....
(Disclaimer - I use Pixelmator and find their products useful)

@androidlove Because Windows is of course the OS of choice for most creative professionals....
@androidlove@andreasduess Fam, you gotta butter both sides of your bread in order to have a proper sandwich. I use Mac and android, and love to be able to use programs on windows (rendering farms, etc) when needed or convenient.
Pixelmator Pro is now available. Looks hot!

@scotty_bowler Pretty sure they won't ;) They are specialising on native high quality Mac software. And one of the quotes of the app is: "Ultimately, totally and completely Mac." And this is a good thing.
@eivindml I can definitely see it from both sides - it means its going to rock on Mac, but I wish apps like this and Sketch would become available for the likes of us who don't like to pay a premium for hardware.
@eivindml@scotty_bowler I paid quite a lot for my X1 Carbon, run Linux, and would buy this.
Would look sweet on my Arch setup.

@andreasduess software tends to rely on hardware for functionality, that is correct.

It's finally here, the highly anticipated new pro photography app by the makers of Pixelmator. "Pixelmator Pro is an image editor packed full of innovations. From a reimagined editing workflow and simplified editing tools to machine learning powering all-new, intelligent image editing features. So the tools at your fingertips are smarter and more powerful, yet more intuitive and easier to use than ever before.". Just wish they have a trial version soon.
@octaviotti ahhh, nice! Didn't have it live earlier I guess. Thanks!

Pixelmator has been a mainstay in my workflow for a few years, despite not editing photos all too often. I love that it feels familiar to a former Photoshop user, but offers utility beyond it's $60 price point. This is a top-tier alternative if you cannot justify spending $20 per month on a Creative Cloud subscription. I've already purchased Pro and am excited to dig in.
Using it on daily basis, much easier than PS, the great option when you're not a professional designer, but still, need to deal with graphics and need PRO-tool for it.
Pros:
Much easier to use than PS
Cons:
many, here and there, but still love it

I've been using Pixelmator for awhile, and upgraded to Pro as soon as I could. This software is amazing. My only issues is that I am still terrible at actualy using photo/image editing software and would love to see some more training videos on the interface. Someone needs to get a course up on Lynda.com ASAP.

@gregghoush What did you think of paying for Pro with no upgrade discount after paying for Pixelmator?
@alexandprivate Its tightly integrated with all of the macOS subsystems like Metal. They have stated that they have no plans to do this on windows as of now. It would basically be a total re-write.
