I built a piano that paints β same song, same painting, every time
Hi Product Hunt π
I'm Rasto, a solo maker from Slovakia, working under the artist name RafFel. For the past months I've been building Paintiano β an instrument that turns music into paintings.
The twist: there's no AI randomness in the core. Every chord maps to color through a deterministic system built on the circle of fifths and the golden ratio (Ο). Play the same song twice, you get the same painting β because the painting is the music, not an interpretation of it. Think of it as a conceptual artwork that happens to be an app.
What it does today:
β’ Play the piano, sing, or let it listen to a song in the room β it paints live
β’ Feed it MIDI, audio, sheet music, or a photo
β’ 18 artist styles (Kandinsky, Rothko, Kusama, Mondrianβ¦), print-ready exports up to A1
β’ Free tier, no account, no card β just paint
We launch July 28 β the Coming soon page is live if you'd like a nudge on launch day.
But honestly, I'm here for feedback before that: what would you want to hear-and-see painted first? And if you try the free version at paintiano.app β what confused you in the first 60 seconds? That's the gold I need now.
β RafFel
