Hi Product Hunt
I'm Rasto, a solo maker from Slovakia, working under the artist name RafFel. For the past months I've been building Paintiano an instrument that turns music into paintings.
The twist: there's no AI randomness in the core. Every chord maps to color through a deterministic system built on the circle of fifths and the golden ratio ( ). Play the same song twice, you get the same painting because the painting is the music, not an interpretation of it. Think of it as a conceptual artwork that happens to be an app.
What it does today:
Play the piano, sing, or let it listen to a song in the room it paints live
Feed it MIDI, audio, sheet music, or a photo
18 artist styles (Kandinsky, Rothko, Kusama, Mondrian ), print-ready exports up to A1
Free tier, no account, no card just paint
Hi Product Hunt π I'm RafFel β I make conceptual art, and for years I wanted to actually see music, not just hear it.
Paintiano is my answer. Drop in a song (or MIDI, audio, even a typed song name) and it paints β every note, key and chord mapped to a colour on a golden-ratio grid. The key thing: it's deterministic. The same song always makes the same painting. It's not a random audio visualizer β it's a fixed translation system, built on old ideas about colour and music (Newton's colour wheel, Scriabin's clavier Γ lumiΓ¨res) and the golden ratio Ο.
You watch it paint in real time as the music plays, then keep the artwork β print it, gift it, hang it on a wall. There's a free tier to just play, and a Pro AI layer that adds atmosphere from a mood or a photo.
I built and shipped the whole thing solo. Would genuinely love your feedback β especially: what song did you try first, and did the painting feel like it?
