I started building a PC cleaner and accidentally built a Windows control center
NotchClean started with a fairly small idea:
make system cleanup something you could access without opening another large utility window.
So I put the cleaner inside a tiny notch at the top of Windows.
Then I needed system stats.
Then media controls made sense.
Then clipboard history.
Then a temporary File Shelf.
Somewhere along the way, the cleaner stopped being the whole product.
The direction I’m increasingly interested in is:
a lightweight control surface for the things Windows users reach for repeatedly throughout the day.
I’m launching NotchClean here tomorrow, but before that I’d love one piece of brutally useful feedback:
Looking at this product concept, what would make you install it - and what would make you uninstall it after five minutes?
I’d much rather hear the second answer now than after launch.
