Building a Private Map Journal (iOS App) - Thoughts on the Concept?
Hey PH Community! 👋
Working on launching my first iOS app soon called Mapora, and wanted to get some early thoughts from you all before the official launch day.
The core idea: A journaling app where you pin memories (photos + notes) directly onto a map, displayed like digital Polaroids. Think of it as creating a personal, visual atlas of your experiences.
A big focus for me is privacy. I wanted something different from typical social mapping apps. With Mapora, photos get stored securely in the user's own Google Drive private app data folder (using the drive.appdata scope) – meaning only the user and the app can access those specific files. Text notes use Firebase Firestore.

Before I hit the launch button, I'd love to hear your insights:
Does the concept of a private, map-based visual journal resonate with you?
Is this something you'd find useful for travels or daily life?
How important is the privacy aspect (using your own cloud storage) for something like this?
Are there any features you'd absolutely expect or love to see in an app like this?
Thoughts on the Polaroid aesthetic for memories?
Building this solo (using SwiftUI!) has been a journey, and your early feedback would be incredibly helpful.
Planning to launch here on PH soon! Let me know what you think!
Thanks, Aadish
