Yes, the facial emotion recognition feature is being designed to work seamlessly with standard webcams. Accessibility is a core priority for us, and we want to ensure that users can benefit from emotional insights without needing any high-end equipment. Thank you for raising such an important question — privacy and consent are absolutely foundational to how we’re building Lumidai.

At this stage, Lumidai operates entirely through text-based interaction, without analyzing voice or video data. However, as we move into Phase 2 and Phase 3, we plan to introduce voice recognition and video therapy capabilities to deepen the emotional connection and therapeutic impact.

These features will be strictly opt-in, with clear consent flows and robust privacy protections in place. Even then, no user data — voice, video, or text — will ever be stored or used for training. Our commitment is to provide meaningful emotional support without ever compromising trust or user safety

Currently, Lumidai has been trained primarily on emotional and psychological data from India, which allows it to recognize many subtle emotional cues within that cultural framework. While this gives it strong contextual understanding in that region, we’re deeply aware that emotional expression varies across cultures. Expanding Lumidai’s emotional literacy to reflect diverse cultural nuances is a key part of our roadmap. Our vision is to create a truly inclusive AI that resonates with people from all backgrounds — with empathy, sensitivity, and respect.
