Hey Product Hunt! Diego and I are the founders of Lotus, an open-source pricing, packaging, and billing engine that powers usage-based, per-seat, and bespoke enterprise plan pricing. We’ve built a real-time system that helps AI, SaaS, and Fintech companies convert product usage → revenue. Monetization and pricing are core aspects of every business that is often overlooked. We built Lotus to give product managers and rev-ops the tools to treat pricing as product and experiment with custom usage metrics. To give Lotus a test, head over to our GitHub repo, give us a star (), and then either follow the directions in the README to self-host or try out our cloud demo. Lotus covers the billing process from 1. Usage Metering 2. Rating and Aggregation into Metrics 3. Plan/Product Catalog -Version Control -Entitlements -Grandfathering 4. Subscription Management 5. Invoice Generation 6. Pricing Experimentation + Analytics Lotus empowers developers to focus on their product's core value add, which almost certainly isn’t billing while giving them the flexibility to customize and add whatever custom logic their use case needs. With extensibility in mind, we’ve adopted a full MIT license for all of our code so anyone can fork our repo and self-host our system for **free** ([). If you’re interested in our Cloud offering or a support license, book a demo uselotus.io or contact us at Happy developing, and send a star if you enjoy the project!
Really cool. Do I understand correctly that you are a mix of Stripe and Chargebee?
Definitely, however we don't handle payments at all so you have to connect your Stripe or another payment gateway to Lotus in order to issue payments for the invoices. We are really trying to innovate on helping teams figure out how to best price their product and then make it super easy for them to execute on that plan!
Great Project ❤️
Sounds very interesting!
That's NYC
💡 Bright idea
As a fellow open-source startup founder, I can say that Lotus is a fantastic addition to the open-source ecosystem. Its pricing and billing engine is incredibly versatile and can be used by businesses of any model. The real-time system allows for easy optimization, testing, and deployment of pricing, and the streamlined metering, entitlements, and invoicing are a huge plus. I am impressed by the work that Mikael, Diego, and the whole team have put into this project, and I do not doubt that it will be a valuable asset for any business that uses it. Keep up the good work, guys! And keep pushing the boundaries of what open source can do!
Thanks for the support! Open-source FTW!!
Such a useful tool, Getting that right price point is never easy and making it this smooth to test is a great idea. Well done!
Thanks Alex. Was great chatting to you about open source. Excited to see what you ship next!
💎 Pixel perfection
We were an early customer and are excited about where this is going. There is a lot to digest regarding SaaS billing, and it was refreshing to find a team focused on solving technical problems with an open-source mindset. They also were able to offer hands-on guidance on billing decisions that (sometimes much larger) alternatives lack. Excited to see the team go.
Great to see your support here Peter! Excited to continue to work with you and the Promptloop team.
congrats on your launch, this looks like a fantastic add-on into the world of open-source solutions!
Thanks for the support!

Hey Sewell. For a very early stage startup or sometime of that scale Stripe Links are probably best! But when you start to scale, managing + remembering how to compute the invoice for customers who are on different unique plans with usage can get complicated. Our primary goal is to make it as easy as changing your pricing in our dashboard and everything updates seamlessly, no need to go into the code, no need to manually compute/generate/send any invoices.
This is amazing. The future is 'Open'
Definitely! Thanks again!
This one is awesome, absolutely loving it :D
Thia is interesting. So when and at what stage you would suggest Lotus could be used/helpful the most? Beta launch with waiting list or it doesn't matter?
At any stage where you want to charge customers honestly. It gets more and more useful as you grow, with our target customers for paid version being larger startups.
Nice project
