Libra - A global cryptocurrency by Facebook

I'm going to be a contrarian here and welcome this with excitement. :- ) As @rrhoover and others have pointed out, Facebook is a company with incredible resources behind it, not just from a raw Engineering standpoint, but their direct connection with almost the entire Internet connected population of the planet. Regardless of whether Libra itself becomes widespread, they have the reach and integration to bring Crypto and Blockchain to the mainstream.

I think if they can overcome the trust issues, this could be game changing.

Pros:

Crypto by a company with high consumer reach and strong engineering is powerful

Cons:

Facebook's privacy record isn't amazing

Looking forward over Libra for the blockchain & cryptocurrency ecosystem.

I love the idea but Libra coming from facebook makes me not so sure if I'd want to use it. The website and video 🤘 I'm also wondering if Apple would do something like this in future...after announcing their own credit cards recently. That'd be cool IMO.
