Key Passages is a mobile app to quickly and easily capture, review and organise passages from physical publications including books, magazines, newspapers, etc.
I built this app as a side project to help with my reading habit. I've found it useful and now I'm sharing it more widely in case others find it useful too. There's lots of room for improvement so all feedback greatly appreciated.

Looks nice! I could use something like this. Android version perhaps?
Cool, what do you think about the following. If I am manually highlighting the sections of importance and then just make a photo of the particular page. I think it would be much better when the app could recognize those sections automatically and include them.
@nick_stask That's a really good idea Nick. It would be especially useful for people who already have books with highlights. They could literally capture those passages in a snap.

One of my goals this year was to go back through my books and copy down the highlights. This is perfect timing! I hope development keeps up for a while. I hate pouring time and attention in to an app only to have it die shortly after or become abandonware.
This looks great!
@iamjmw Good point. This app does require investment from the user and it would be a shame if that's wasted. I'm an ardent reader and use this myself so I have motivation to keep it going.

Great idea! I wonder if there is a way to tie this in with Goodreads or Kindle to save your highlights.
Genius! I make "JoshNotes" of all the books I read. I just flag them with a sticky and then go back and type them into markdown later. This would streamline this a lot, especially with text recognition. Nice job!
@joshuapinter This is very similar to my workflow before which inspired me to build this. It's still on the minimalist side but I hope there's enough here to provide a real benefit for you.
@donovan_frew Since you're kinda into the digitizing space, like myself, did you ever use ModNotebooks? It's normal notebook but when you've filled it up, you mail it back to them and they digitize it into their web app for archiving, etc.
I used them exclusively for years and it saved my ass a few times when I made meeting notes, etc that I had forgotten and were only in that notebook.
They shutdown but I was thinking of building a mobile and web app that essentially did the same thing but without the specific notebook, allowing you to easily digitize your used notebooks after you filled them up. That's the core and then you could use text recognition for search ability and indexing, etc.
Looking for a teammate on it so let me know.

This is exactly what I needed! I’ve been trying to solve this issue with native Notes app but this! This is exactly the tool I need. 🙂 May I help you with the UI design? I would really love to! Let’s talk on Twitter (@suliik). 🙂
