Finding Clay expensive?

A lot us are frustrated with Clay credits usage.

It almost feels like complexity is built in to maximise credit usage- not maximise value delivered to the users.

I have spoken with 200+ founders and builders while building Jesse.

A vast majority spend more per month Clay to just find 100 leads (not convert, just find) than they spend on building their app.

This is very unfortunate situation to be in.

If you find yourself in such a situation- might as well try Jesse (#3 product of the day, and featured mention in PH weekly newsletter)>

Whats more?
> Jesse does not restrict you to 102-12 data sources.
> Jesse is natural language based.
"show me soccer facilities opened in midwest post last summer" -> relevant if you want to sell your booking SaaS
"homeowners looking to rent out their homes having moved to a different city" -> great leads if you are in real estate

I keep hearing similar complaints from founders.

For a lot of small startups, spending hundreds of dollars just to find leads can feel painful, especially when you're still validating the product itself.

I think tools that let people describe their ideal customer in natural language are moving in the right direction. Most founders don't care about filters and enrichment workflows, they just want to find the right people and start conversations.

absolutely- Clay feels like an engineering project itself to wire multiple data sources up.

The examples here are probably the most interesting part:

"soccer facilities opened in the Midwest post last summer" is exactly the kind of signal-based search most outbound teams struggle to operationalize. Looking forward to seeing more use cases from users.

Paying more to find leads than to build stings.

The biggest pain with Clay isn't finding leads, it's burning credits while figuring out the right search strategy. Love the natural-language approach here. Makes prospecting feel much more accessible for smaller teams and founders. Congrats on the launch! 🚀

Pricing that scales with usage sounds fair until you realize "usage" in Clay means every enrichment step on every row. It adds up faster than anyone expects.
