New iPad Pro (2020) - Apple's newest tablet, aimed to replace laptops

It’s a magical piece of glass.
It’s so fast most PC laptops can’t catch up.
It has pro cameras that can transform reality.
And you can use it with touch, pencil, keyboard, and now trackpad.
It’s the new iPad Pro.

So why iPad OS then and not MacOS?

@neunzehn90 This is all I came here for, my disappointment is immeasurable.

@neunzehn90 So they can continue to require developers to pay them to approve every application. This is the war on general computing that we were warned about

@neunzehn90 This. More powerful hardware. Less powerful OS. Hardware looks amazing though.

@neunzehn90 Please no

I was wishing it had MacOS. Can't do many professional tasks with iOS. Without full Adobe CS, Figma, Sketch, and code editors such as Sublime and Atom neither designer nor developer can fully use it. Without MacOS, it's just a fancy messaging and content tool.

@vineet_sinha I was thinking the same thing. Might they bring MacOS app support? Im a programmer so I know and agree with what you're talking about.

Hey @vineet_sinha fancy running into you here! I was thinking the same thing. Such a let down...

Apple is finally catching up with Microsoft. That's a sentence I never thought I would say! And $281 for a keyboard? Apple is really stretching the pricing limit!
Jack Smith
@amirkhella actually the keyboard is $349 for the larger screen-size...

iPad and laptops melting together. Interesting.
Nick Rameau
@leblancstartup Yeah, well, not that interesting if it doesn't support MacOS too XD

"Cursor 2.0" implementation looks unique – the cursor circle morphs into a hovered version of the control underneath it. Can be seen about halfway down the page or https://twitter.com/twolivesleft...

Yeah but can it install hundreds of npm modules?

Looks really interesting, but feels like this is a really bad time to be introducing a new, expensive product.
Chad Bernier
@mark_gits_sf I don't think it's that bad. Their target demographic is affluent white collar workers. These people have stable incomes mostly, working from home. Those that don't have totally stable income like salespeople dependent on commissions, have savings accounts and credit cards. They can qualify for 0% financing offers. Plus, this is a business expense anyways, so it really depends on your business finances, not personal. Also, whoever wants one and really still can't afford it right now can just buy it later. You don't have to buy a product at launch. They will keep selling them. Why would you make the people who can afford it now have to wait? I don't go around asking companies making products that I can't afford to wait for me. Sales a little slower is better than no sales at all.
MarkGitsSalesforce
@chad_bernier I'm not saying they can't introduce it or there aren't people who COULD buy it. Sure, if they have it then I guess they have to introduce it and try and make some sales. And then some time from now other people can buy it. But I'm sure they would rather this was about 5 weeks ago. Disposable income (and business spending) is going to be pretty tight for everyone. If we do see massive unemployment from the Coronavirus, then compounded by the oil price implosion, I don't think it's going to spare white collar workers. Everyone will be hit really, really hard. I deeply hope I'm wrong. Would love to be able to buy one of these.

Always love the effort Apple put to its product landing page.

@marcelc63 no anims at all in this one

If my shitty marketing web apps work on this I'll be soooooo happy.
