Hello everyone, introducing myself and my soon to be released product
I'm Rob and I am very close to launching my 'second brain' product. I know personal productivity is a bit crowded but this is something of a passion project for me. I have notes on my 'system' going back to 2003 when I was a Palm Pilot user and had an idea for a modern organizational system based on PDA's and the possibility of having your second brain go with you everywhere.
I'm not great at social media as I'm something of a technical person (and old enough to not really be as 'connected' as I could be). So for now I just wanted to kick things off by an introduction and will start connecting with others that are also working on personal productivity tools. Would welcome any advice or feedback from others.
TL;DR
I have for years used other solutions to try to implement my system (Evernote, Todoist, Things, Notion, Clickup, Capacities and many more recently and through the years) and my original plan was to write a book about this system and how to structure an app like Evernote to maximize productivity. So I took notes through the years, added concepts, used apps and continued to evolve the core structure. Around 2015 I started to think about building my own app that was built around my system. Over the years I grew into a technology executive working for others and leading teams to build great software. But I never stopped dreaming about my system and how it could work.
The core system is based on 7 objects that I believe can be used and interrelated to journal all of the information that comes into your life. This structure is small enough to make finding information easier (since there are fewer places it could go) but broad enough to handle all that I wanted to remember. Around 2017 I got very involved in ML and RPA in my job and shortly thereafter AI. It was at that time that I realized how powerful my descriptive constructs could be in helping AI understand context.
Some early experiments proved out nicely and so after talking to my wife about it, we agreed I would quit my job at the time and I would build this product. The original expectation was 6 months to build and go live (I had been working on it in detail so had very specific requirements in place when I started). But now, almost 18 months later, I'm finally ready to put it out there. I've been testing and refining for over a year with a number of helpful testers and think I finally have something that is 20% of where I want to be with this product :).
The app is called 'Linni' and my company website is vennlabs.ai if any want to look into it.

Wow, Rob—your journey from Palm Pilot to Linni sounds amazing! I love how you’ve distilled everything into just seven objects. Best of luck polishing the final 80%; can’t wait to see it live. If you’re up for it, I’m launching The Sponge on PH soon—a AI‑powered flashcard tool that turns any webpage into study material. Would appreciate a follow (see “PRODUCT HUNT LAUNCH” in my profile).
@rianbrob Thanks Rian, I'll be watching for The Sponge! Also my post may have been a little unclear. It's feature complete for V1 now I'm just coordinating the pre-launch stuff. 20% means I have lots of ideas about all that it can do as I continue to improve and refine. But lets stay connected, I'm very passionate about productivity and AI and it sounds like The Sponge is right down my alley :)
