Cosmin Budrica

Hello everyone.

by

I'm Cosmin, the maker of PhotoStreamr, and I'm super excited to share it with you all today!

Like many of you, I had an old Android tablet gathering dust in a drawer. I wanted to turn it into a beautiful digital photo frame, but I found existing solutions were often limited, clunky, or lacked the features I really wanted – especially seamless integration with Google Photos and useful widgets.

So, I decided to build PhotoStreamr!

PhotoStreamr transforms almost any Android phone or tablet into a stunning, feature-rich digital photo frame. Its core goal is to give your idle screens a new purpose, beautifully displaying your memories.

Here's what makes PhotoStreamr special:

  • Flexible Photo Sources: It seamlessly integrates with Google Photos (so your frame is always up-to-date!), but also pulls from local device storage and even network (SMB) shares.

  • Smart Widgets: Go beyond just photos! Display the current time and local weather forecast right on your slideshow.

  • Highly Customizable: Choose from various transitions (like fade, slide, Ken Burns), control timing, add background music (internet radio or local files), set schedules, and much more.

  • Repurposing Focus: It's designed from the ground up to be a fantastic way to give older Android devices a new lease on life.

I built this primarily using Kotlin and focused on creating a smooth, stable experience, especially for tablets in landscape mode.

I'm constantly looking to improve PhotoStreamr and would absolutely love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

  • What do you think of the concept?

  • Are there any features you'd love to see added?

  • How could it better fit into your home or office setup?

Check it out on the Play Store here: PhotoStreamr

Thanks so much for checking out PhotoStreamr! I'll be around all day to answer any questions you might have.

P.S. Happy to share some promo codes for premium features if people are interested - let me know in the comments!
