15 years designing enterprise software. I finally built my own SaaS.
by•
Hi everyone, I'm Matthias, Head of Design at EBCONT.
For the last 15 years I've helped large organizations design and build digital products. This year I decided to experience the other side of product development: building, launching and finding users myself.
I'm currently building Picspace, an image workspace for professional photographers, while experimenting heavily with AI-assisted product development.
Looking forward to learning from this community and find some inspiration—and hopefully contributing myself a little bit.

Welcome Matthias! The building and launching you'll be right at home with after 15 years. It's the 'finding users myself' part that's the real shift coming from enterprise — at least it was for me. In a big org distribution is sort of handed to you; solo you earn every single user from zero. Picspace's a nice niche too, photographers actually talk to each other, which helps a lot. Curious how you're planning to reach the first ones — cold outreach, communities, or leaning on your existing design network?
Thanks@mesut_temizkan. Distribution is exactly the challenge I’m trying to learn now.
I deliberately started with professional photographers because I have unusually good access to that world through my wife and can learn from real workflows almost every day. My suspicion, though, is that photographers are just the beachhead. The deeper problem isn’t photo delivery—it’s what happens to an image archive over years. I think the organizations around photographers may eventually become an even bigger market than photographers themselves. That’s still a hypothesis, but it’s one I’m eager to validate.
