Hello everyone, I'm Fang Junyu. This is my first Mac app. When I was developing it, I couldn't find any suitable free image compression apps on the China App Store. Most were paid or included ads. I often used TinyPNG to compress images on the web. After learning Swift, I started experimenting with Mac apps.
I've now combined the Mac's built-in image compression API with the open source project pngquant to develop a free and open-source app called "ImageSlim." The image compression rate can be configured in the config.
I'm excited that this app can help more people. It also avoids having to pass images to a third-party website. Images are compressed locally, and the app code is open source.
This is awesom! Love that it's open source AND compresses images locally – truely a game changer for privacy, right? No more uploading pics to third-party sites! So much faster and safer. How's the performance with larger batches of images?
