And there's another one that appeared today. For Chrome though -
Any chance of a Highly bookmarklet? (Example: Diigo. Or the now defunct awesomehighlighter.)
Tom! There are browser extensions for Safari & Chrome. This might do the trick :) And if not, I'm curious why you'd prefer a bookmarklet ...
Andrew - I'm a Firefox user. :-) But regardless of browser, bookmarklets are preferable because they don't require installing (yet another) extension -- and therefore they don't affect browser performance, don't need to be updated, aren't prone to compatibility issues, etc. I keep a subfolder of them in my browser bar for easy access. Some things make sense as extensions (ex: TabsMixPlus, Greasemonkey, 1Password), but bookmarklets are great for simple tools like highlighting text, annotating pages, identifying fonts, "zapping" elements of a page, etc. For example, Diigo's bookmarklet triggers a toolbar that has highlighting options, sticky notes, and sharing tools. I'll keep an eye out for your Firefox extension.
Thanks for the note! We favor Extensions so we can keep improving them and delivering updates, and it's good to know your POV on their weak spots. Firefox extension will hit somewhat soon :)
Awesome work Andrew! Good to see the the iPhone version released. Keep up the great work.
Congrats on an incredible app release. Great team too!
gamechanger. thanks for your vision
I've been using this for a few days now, and it is excellent for organizing my online research. I am very impressed by the in context tutorial on iOS, great work. You introduce a new paradigm and it was very easy to adjust previous habits. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.
It is cool, but it so fucking difficult to setup it and understand how you can use it. I waste about 7 minutes to understand
This is just awesome! Very nice product!
Thanks!
Wow I love this product. At times I found the onboarding a little confusing, particularly trying to use Highly for the first time in an article (using the share button after highlighting as opposed to the share button at the bottom of the app). Otherwise, big fan!! 👏🏼
Thank you! It's crazy that you have to turn on Highly before selecting text, but it's required technically (for now). We'll patch that up ASAP.
I've been using Highly for a little over a week now and am thrilled with it! Medium's a daily ritual for me and one of my favourite features is the ability to highlight any nuggets of gold. I can't stress enough how fantastic I've found Highly to be... and now I can use it on my phone too! Bravo guys 👏🏻
