Hangouts Chat by Google - Intelligent team communication

It looks more like Microsoft Teams than Slack with all those "Reply" buttons under threaded conversations.

I have a free Google Apps for your Domain account but can't figure out how to login/use hangouts chat. Does it work with the free accounts or I have to be on a paid plan?

The problem with anything that Google Launches these days is that just when you get used to it, they may decide to pull the plug on it. So many of their services have been killed off in the past.

Works fine. Pretty basic. Impression of reliability is pretty weak tho, so is the user experience.

I feel a lot of bad karma here, just because the makers work for a tech giant. I think it’s more difficult to make a product in a large Tech Corp. than it’s for an small company. They are constrained by Corp. coding guidelines, internal policy, quality controls, timeframes, etc… Things that don’t usually affect to small companies or Indy developers.

We are currently testing Hangouts for our internal communications. Personally, I have even made video calls through it. However, the interface can be a little confusing in comparison to alternatives such as Slack and Skype. I will definitely wait for this product to improve and evolve before committing to it completely.
