Hangouts Chat by Google - Intelligent team communication

Have a feeling this will end up in the Google product graveyard with fellow friends such as Google +, Goole Answers, Google Buzz, etc, etc....

I don't think I'll use this only because I'm just so confused by Google. I got an email: "Classic Hangouts will still be available and will be compatible with Hangouts Chat (more info). Hangouts Meet (also a core G Suite service) is also compatible with Hangouts Chat, enabling you to seamlessly start or join video meetings from conversations." Does anyone work in Product Marketing at Google? Can you not just come up with one product name, and then have all of these be "features" that you can enable, or disable within the core product UX? It's going to be so much easier for adoption, if you can onboard people into one product and then highlight all of the benefits, use cases and features... all under a single messaging product brand.

I was looking at this today - thought it has been out for a while. I'm concerned about the integrations my organization now relies on in slack, as I'm sure few of them would have developed for this at this point.

Can anyone give me a reason why I should leave the Slack app and transfer my team to the chat by Google? What's so unique, what's so different there? Also, I tried to set up my team, there are so many steps and they started from Gsuite. When I register, they sent me an welcome email where they mentioned - "Trial ends: March 14, 2018" This is scary. They didn't mention about pricing while I was registering, not even mention that I was on trial. No offense, Google is the best, but this service doesn't worth that much as they are bragging. The UX looks really bleak and boring.

I see the HIPAA logo on their landing page. With a BAA looks like this latest rendition of Hangouts should be fully HIPAA complient. To get a HIPAA complient solution from Slack you have to buy their Enterpeise Grid which costs $150/user/month. G-Suite costs $5/user/month. G-Suite seems like a killer deal if you must be HIPAA complient. Can anyone speak further on this subject?

Is there any reason Discord isn't more widely used for professional teams? I know it's primarily aimed at gamers at this point but I find it superior to slack as a messanger not considering integrations.
