We just shipped this in Basedash and my honest first reaction when we scoped the feature was no way, absolutely not. I've spent 6 years building tools that touch production data, and the whole time the rule was that humans click the buttons.

reading about a tool gives me the pitch. the feature list, the happy path, the demo where everything works on the first try. i can describe the tool after that. i still cant use it.
A while back, I was brought in to fix a brutal monetization bottleneck for a US-based AI lead outreach startup (name withheld).
On paper, they looked great. They had successfully acquired over 1,000 users on their product. But when I looked at the stripe dashboard, they had fewer than 5 paying customers. The freemium tier was way too generous, but the core issue was that management had zero visibility into why people weren't upgrading.
Personally, I was laid off a year ago and currently bottoming out on savings. Every day is not guaranteed, quite literally, at this point. Yet, I keep my head down and continue building out a product relentlessly that I, quite frankly, have no idea how it will turn out. Many of us took this leap of faith and are under strenuous circumstances, especially in the current market. If you're in similar positions, just know that everything will work out! The first and most important impact as we are already seeing is that the barrier for non-technical people to build software they require will drastically drop. This is evident in tools like lovable, bolt, replit etc... where users with no coding experience can whip up apps in a couple of minutes or hours as the case maybe.
