Why does every minimalist to-do app start with a 12-step onboarding process?

Small rant incoming. I keep downloading to-do apps marketed as simple and calm, only for them to launch into a five-minute setup wizard asking about my "productivity style" or whether I'm a "sprinter" or a "marathoner." I literally just want to type "buy milk."
The apps that actually feel calm are usually the boring ones with zero personality. No streaks, no confetti, no motivational pop-ups when I check off a task. Just a list that stays a list.
Has anyone else noticed this trend? Do you prefer apps that try to coach you, or do you bail the second a setup quiz pops up? Also, has anyone found a genuinely simple app that actually stayed simple after a month of use?
