Which companies do you think will survive the next 10 years, and which ones will disappear?

A few years ago, I read the book The Four by Scott Galloway.

The book, published in 2017, focused on the four companies that dominated the market at the time: Amazon, Apple, Facebook (now Meta), and Google.

It also explored other companies that will dominate the market, including companies such as Tesla, Alibaba, Uber, Microsoft, Netflix, IBM, and Airbnb.

The book is almost 10 years old now, and we can already see how much the cards have changed.

Which companies do you think will still be here in 2036?

And which ones do you think will disappear, be acquired, or simply lose their dominance?

Personally, I’d bet on companies like OpenAI being part of that future.

The ones that adjust to the internet changing from human first, to agent first. All the companies that make their websites available to agents, both from a UI perspective and both from a service perspective will be the ones that are still here in 10 years.

If you spend some time on X for example you see that the market is already saturated of companies making new agents, they ask services instead that they can easily connect to their own agents.

Tech like WebMCP, Kitesurf, MCPs etc are some early indicators of where the digital world is moving towards.

Deepseek, Z AI, Qwen, Alibaba, Moonshot (Kimi)

The survivors are the ones whose switching cost is a habit rather than a contract, which is why I'd bet on Amazon and Apple long before Tesla. What I'd worry about is the middle layer, companies whose entire product is a nicer wrapper on someone else's API. That's a feature request away from being deleted, and the last two years have shown how fast it happens. Ten years is also long enough that at least one of the four gets taken apart by a regulator rather than a competitor.

I would bet on Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Apple still being major companies in 2036 mainly because they own infrastructure, distribution and huge ecosystems rather than a single product. I am less certain about companies like Uber, Airbnb or even Netflix - they can absolutely survive but their markets feel easier to commoditize and harder to defend for another decade.

If I had to pick one giant though that could lose the most relative power , I think it would be Google. It will not disappear but become less dominant if AI assistants meaningfully change where discovery starts.
