What I was wrong about for launch day
by•
I saw the launch as the finish line. Four hours sleep, refreshing the leader board throughout the day, responding to every comment immediately. We did well. The traffic dried up, and I didn’t have any plan for Tuesday.
Churn for the users from launch day was at nearly double the churn for each previous cohort. They signed up for the excitement, not the problem.
What really counted were those twenty or so people who found us three weeks later via a comment discussion. Most of them are still here.
If you have launched more than once, what did you do differently the second time? That’s largely what I am interested in, in the week after launch, because that doesn’t seem to be planned for by anybody, including me.
