What are your favorite business and startup podcasts?

by

I genuinely love listening to podcasts. It's one of the best ways I've found to stay on top of new trends, pick up strategies I wouldn't have discovered otherwise, and come across founders and operators I'd never stumble on through regular reading.

So I'm always on the lookout for new ones worth adding to the rotation.

Right now my two favorites are Lenny's Podcast and Greg Isenberg's show. Both go deep" not surface-level takes, but real conversations with real depth. The kind where you finish an episode and immediately want to apply something to what you're working on.

Lenny tends to go deep on product, growth, and what actually moves the needle for startups. Greg brings a sharp lens on trends, community, and the business of building in public. Both feel current in a way that a lot of podcasts don't.

So I'm curious:

  • Which business or startup podcasts are you listening to right now?

  • Any hidden gems that don't get enough attention?

  • And is there a specific episode that genuinely changed how you think about something?

Any episode from The Knowledge Project that stood out to you

Aleksandar Blazhev

@gabriel_flores3 Thank you! Bookmarked!

Any favorite episode to recommend?

Gabriel Flores

@byalexai A couple really stand out:

The Shane Parrish with Daniel Kahneman episode one is great for thinking about decision making

Also the Shane Parrish with Naval Ravikant episode is super insightful on leverage and long term thinking

Both are worth a listen depending on what you're into

Nolan Patrick

Have you explored My First Million recently?

Aleksandar Blazhev

@nolan_patrick several recommendations here so definitely will give a try

Savannah Ross

Do you lean more operator stories or tactical breakdowns

What's your filter for "worth finishing" an episode

Aleksandar Blazhev

@delaney_rose1 definitely open to watch 1 or 2 episodes

Rustam Khasanov

20VC by Harry Stebbings, YC youtube channel is quite good for general advices, it's like rereading classics to remember something you likely know

Aleksandar Blazhev

@rustam_khasanov Oh yeah! Definitely a good suggestion! I used to watch it a lot, but lately I haven’t at all.

Any particular episode that stood out to you in the last 4–5 months?

Rustam Khasanov

@byalexai "How To Get Your First Users" by Ankit, and I also liked "The Best Way To Launch Your Startup" by Kat Mañalac, but that's a 3yo video. I loved the part about "the types of launches"

Aleksandar Blazhev

@rustam_khasanov ooo nice to hear this!

Actually @katmanalac was pretty active on PH a few years ago

@rustam_khasanov 20VC is a favorite of mine, as I like to hear from business leaders running existing public companies. As a public equity investor, this gives me great information to work off of!

Brooklyn Bryant

Do you discover podcasts through people or algorithms?

Aleksandar Blazhev

@brooklyn_bryant prefer people (especially friends) to recommend podcasts to me.

Hamid Ali

Big fan of My First Million, super entertaining but also packed with actionable ideas. It’s one of those where you always walk away with at least one new angle to think about.

Aleksandar Blazhev

@hamid_ali28 Cool suggestion Hamid! Any episode you’d recommend?

Michael La Barbera

I listen to mainly economics and finance podpast so it's niche. I am open to hearing about the best startup podcasts and getting ideas from the community!

Aleksandar Blazhev

@stokestox could you recommend your economics/finance podcasts?

Michael La Barbera

@byalexai I recommend David Lin reports, George Gammon and Peter Schiff for macro views. There are many others that have quality content on YouTube Lyn Alden is underrated IMO.

@stokestox thank you Michael! Will take a look! I also follow Peter Schiff for macro views!

Michael La Barbera

@byalexai Cool, I am interested in broadening my views as well and open to suggestions for other channels.

Nika

To be honest, I have only Czech and Slovak favourites, so probably will disappoint the international community :D

Aleksandar Blazhev

@busmark_w_nika would you be open to share them, Google Gemini/Perplexity will translate them xD

Aleksandar Blazhev

@busmark_w_nika thank you! How often you watch them? And favorite episode to start with?

Nika

@byalexai I rather listen to them while exercising, so if I have 1 hour long workout, I can consume all of them every time they publish something :D

For those that enjoy learning about existing businesses themselves (rather than learning how to build one), I recommend the following:

- The Intrinsic Value Podcast
- We Study Billionaires
- Business Breakdowns
- Yet Another Value Podcast
- The Synposis

Has anyone heard of these podcasts? If so, which are your favorite ones?

Aleksandar Blazhev

@blakeskrable

Wow, 5 podcasts and not a single one is familiar to me. Lol

Which one would guide me the most. Something you’d say you personally like the most about a specific one of them?

Blake at Vassant
@byalexai It’s a niche world in equity / business analysis! The Intrinsic Value Podcast is good for thorough yet understandable analyses of popular “quality” businesses (think $MELI, $UMG, $V, $LVMH) We Study Billionaires is best for those looking to learn key lessons from investing legends (Buffett, Terry Smith, etc) Business Breakdowns is very similar to #1, but often features portfolio managers as guests (who also own equity share in these businesses, therefore have a strong in-depth understanding) Yet Another Value Podcast is similar to #1 and #3, which also includes guests for equity analysis. Tbh my least favorite though… not a fan of the interviewer. The Synopsis is an equity analysis podcast led by Drew Cohen, who used to work at Goldman Sachs. These are super in depth but targeted towards institutional investors. Hard to choose a favorite between 1,2,3, and 5!
